The benefits of protein drinks

Did you know that drinking a protein smoothie immediately after working out will increase the benefits of your workout? When you’ve just finished your high intensity workout at BEAT45, you actually create little tears in your muscle fibres, and it’s the rebuilding process that makes them stronger.

This process, called “muscle protein synthesis” or “building muscle protein” needs to happen and actually makes you fitter and stronger! Our body uses protein to repair all body tissue, which includes hair, skin, nails and tendons. You can also get your protein from food of course but it takes more time for your body to break it down and often comes with saturated fat, cholesterol and other things you don’t need.

What most people don’t know is that consuming a protein shake directly after your workout, or at least within 30 minutes, can help decrease muscular soreness and have a better immune response.
